When Astral Tequila Blanco debuted, it was practically written in the stars that they’d eventually launch two more affordable offerings: Astral Tequila Reposado and Astral Tequila Añejo. For just a couple extra bucks, go for the Añejo, a mellow 100% Blue Weber agave spirit aged 12 months in single-use American Oak Bourbon barrels.
With notes of vanilla, oak and butterscotch, Astral Tequila Añejo is smooth enough to serve neat, on the rocks, or as the unexpected twist in classics like this newfangled Old Fashioned.
Astral Old Fashioned
1.5 oz Astral Tequila Añejo
1 Barspoon of Agave Nectar
2 Dashes of Chocolate Bitters
Grated Chocolate and Orange Twist to garnish
Method: Add the first three ingredients to an ice-filled mixing glass. Stir for 10 to 12 seconds. Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass. Garnish with grated chocolate and an orange twist.
