Gin has been an anchor in Holland America Line’s history dating back to the cruise company’s start 150 years ago. To toast its big anniversary, HAL launched De Lijn gin to be exclusively served and sold on board its fleet. The result is a premium gin made in America and inspired by the Netherlands.
The name’s an affectionate nod to Holland America’s roots, and it adorns the label in Dutch orange accented with line drawings of brilliant blue juniper berries in a style the cruise line has coined as Modern Delft, an homage to the iconic blue and white of Dutch Delftware.
Holland America Line’s first produced spirit is made with Dutch-inspired botanicals, including orange, rose, elderberry, lemon verbena, lemon, raspberry and juniper. Each botanical is cold distilled separately for distinct flavors. Want a taste? Then book a cruise. De Lijn is only served onboard in HAL’s bars and lounges fleetwide and is featured in three 150th anniversary cocktails: Dutch 150, 150th Martini, and De Lijn Gin and Tonic.
