We love to rewatch the sci-fi/comedy Galaxy Quest whenever we get the chance. This feature-length documentary from Screen Junkies (the Honest Trailers guys) includes interviews with the original cast, celebrities, and superfans to learn why it’s such a magical and enduring movie. Arrives in select theaters 11/26/19.

Based on Susanna Jones’ mystery novel, this disquieting thriller takes place in 1989 Toyko, where a troubled young expat and a local photographer connect, and their relationship takes a dark turn when a woman they befriend suddenly goes missing, and is presumed dead. In theaters 11/1/19, and on Netflix 11/15/19.

After hitting it big with Pirates of the Caribbean, Disney is repackaging another of its theme park attractions as a movie. Emily Blunt stars as a woman on a mission to find a rare Amazon plant with healing powers, and Dwayne Johnson is her guide on an adventure that’s sure to be filled with thrills and a few bad jokes.

Disney and Pixar’s upcoming feature film introduces us to a pair of suburban elfen brothers (Chris Pratt and Tom Holland). The duo set off on a madcap mission to restore the missing half of their dad, after they mess up a spell to bring him back to life. Premieres 3/6/2020.

(PG-13: Language) Based on the eponymous graphic novel by Brian Ralph, this Netflix series offers a lighthearted, action-packed take on post-apocalyptic tropes, in a world where zombies and Mad Max-type gangs challenge the teens of suburban Glendale, California, and Ferris Bueller is now a high school principal. Premieres 10/24/19.

Director Tom Waller’s film tells the true story of the Thai soccer team who found themselves trapped deep within a cave, kicking off a global rescue effort, resulting in acts of true heroism and bravery, and some strange behavior from Elon Musk. Premieres at the Busan Film Festival.

(PG-13: Language) Adult Swim welcomes us back to the multiverse with an new season of Rick and Morty, as the smartest Rick and the smartest Morty head out on a new series of crazy misadventures. Along the way, Rick conjures a dragon, Mr. Meeseeks returns, and Taika Waititi plays a four-eyed alien. Five new episodes kick off 11/10/19.

Some days you just can’t get rid of a bomb. Screen Junkies looks back at one of our favorite comic book movies of all time, the campy and hilarious 1966 feature-length Batman movie based on the Adam West and Burt Ward TV series. It also got us thinking: perhaps a touch of humor is how DC could save the franchise.

CBS All Access drops another look at the upcoming Jean-Luc Picard series, which kicks off with the best Starfleet Captain ever coming out of retirement to come to the aid of a mysterious young woman. And the Captain now has two Number Ones – his cat, and Lieutenant Riker. Premieres 1/23/20.

A boy struggling with a rare autoimmune disorder finds himself at a treatment center who claims they can cure his disease, but he and his family get more than what they bargain for in this creepy Netflix horror flick. Talk about side effects. Drops 10/18/19.

Clint Eastwood directed this retelling of the tragic story of the security guard who went from being lauded as a hero to being treated as a terrorist after the 1996 Centennial Olympic Park bombing in Atlanta. If ever there was a cautionary tale for irresponsible journalism, it’s this.

How do you shoot an action film in a single shot, in real time? That was Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes’ (Skyfall, American Beauty) challenge for 1917, a WWI drama that takes audiences into the trenches alongside two British soldiers on a mission to save a battalion from walking into a deadly trap. In theaters 12/2019.

This critically-acclaimed animated film by Jeremy Clapin takes viewers on a wild ride as a severed hand sets off on a journey to reconnect with its owner, as it recounts memories of the pizza boy he belongs to, and his one true love. Based on the novel Happy Hand, by Guillaume Laurant. In theaters 11/15/19 and Netflix 11/29/19.

Johnny Knoxville’s film Action Point was a semi-fictitious tribute to the world’s most dangerous amusement park. Seth Porges and Chris Charles Scott’s documentary takes us inside the true story of New Jersey’s thrilling, but terrifying Action Park, and the many crimes and misdemeanors that took place during its existence.

Stephen Low’s big-screen 3D film Secrets of the Universe introduces us to some of the world’s brightest minds as they unravel the mysteries of the universe. Along the way, journey to the Large Hadron Collider and the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Observatory (LIGO), and meet the scientists of the Perimeter Institute. (Thanks Susan!)

(PG-13: Language) Adam Sandler is getting great marks for his role in this drama about a high-strung New York City jewelry store owner whose irresponsible behavior lands him in serious debt, and takes us on a wild ride inside the head of a man struggling to keep his precarious world from imploding.

After teasing us, Netflix has dropped the first real trailer for Vince Gilligan’s Breaking Bad movie, and it looks awesome. It picks up Jesse Pinkman’s story from the minute that the series ended to find out where the rocky roads led him after his escape from an almost certain demise.

This Netflix film offers a cool twist on the typical crime drama, as cop becomes obsessed with hunting down a serial killer who only resurfaces every nine years, and it turns out there’s something far more complicated at stake than just the lives of her victims.

One of the first original series headed to Apple TV+ drops us into a post-apocalyptic world where a virus has taken away human’s ability to see. But after hundreds of years, two children are born with the gift of sight, and their father (Jason Momoa) must protect them from an evil queen who wants them killed for witchcraft.

Nicolas Cage and Laurence Fishburne star in this action drama about members of a drug cartel who are sent on a mission to figure out why their supply chain is breaking down. Along the way, they have run-ins with other gangsters, the feds, and many others who stand in their way.

Frenetic Arts’ documentary takes us inside the mind and the craft of stop-motion animation maestro Phil Tippett, whose work has been seen in movies like Star Wars: A New Hope, Robocop, Jurassic Park, and Starship Troopers, along with his epic passion project Mad God.
