Shea Whigham, Michael Shannon, and Catalina Sandino Moreno star in this thriller about a drifter who kills a traveling preacher, then assumes the man’s life in a small town unfamiliar with his appearance. When the local police chief suspects something is amiss, things take an even darker turn. Drops 4/17/2020.

The boys are back in the multiverse. After a 6-month hiatus, Rick and Morty returns with the back half of its fourth season. Along the way, they wear unnecessarily badass suits and destroy countless aliens. Oh, and Snuffles (er, Snowball) returns to face a new enemy. The five new episodes kick off 5/3/2020 on Adult Swim.

From the twisted mind of Justin Roiland, co-creator of Rick and Morty, comes an animated sitcom about a family of aliens and their misadventures as they try to live among humans on Earth. It’s like 3rd Rock from the Sun, only the extraterrestrials don’t look like us. Coming to Hulu 5/8/2020.

While we enjoyed The Rise of Skywalker for the most part, it did try and cram in way too many stories, and had its share of sloppy and too-convenient plot points. Of course Screen Junkies has a lot more beefs about Star Wars Episode IX in their brutally Honest Trailer.

Vince Vaughn, Liam Hemsworth, and Clark Duke star in this indie crime drama about a couple of losers who work for an evil Arkansas drug kingpin, and the very bad consequences of a deal gone wrong. Also stars John Malkovich, Michael Kenneth Williams, and Vivica A. Fox. Drops 5/1/2020.

Mark Ruffalo stars in this this HBO limited series about identical twin brothers whose lives take very different paths after one of them struggles with mental health issues as a paranoid schizophrenic. Based on the 1998 best-selling novel by Wally Lamb.

The hilarious vampire mockumentary series is coming back for a second season, and it looks like the setups are hysterical as ever, from a Super Bowl party to an open mic night. Plus, it looks like everyone’s favorite energy vampire has gained some new powers after getting a promotion. Drops 4/15/20 on FX.

This sci-fi comedy from Greg Daniels (The Office, Parks and Recreation) is set in a future where sick and injured people’s loved ones have the option to have their consciousness uploaded into an idyllic digital “afterlife.” So yeah, it’s basically a funny version of Black Mirror. Coming to Amazon Prime Video.

Pendleton Ward, creator of Adventure Time and Duncan Trussell of the Duncan Trussell Family Hour team up for a trippy Netflix animated series about an interstellar broadcaster who roams the universe looking for beings to interview. It sounds like Space Ghost Coast to Coast meets Rick and Morty. Drops on 4/20/20, of course.

Actor Paul Hogan portrays himself in this meta-movie about Hollywood’s insistence on relaunching the Crocodile Dundee franchise with a younger version of himself. We’re so happy that they decided to take this route rather than another sequel or reboot.

Tom Hanks stars in this WWII action drama about a first-time destroyer commander who must face terrible odds to help a convoy of dozens of allied ships survive attacks by deadly packs of Nazi U-boats. Based on a true story.

In this dark and twisted film from director Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, inmates are subjected to a terrible plight in a prison where food is rationed from a platform that that gradually moves to lower floors. As the prisoners fight for scraps and leftovers, the worst aspects of humanity emerge. Coming to Netflix 3/20/20.

This absurd dark comedy follows a couple who move into a low rent apartment, only to find wacked-out cult members start breaking in to commit ritualistic suicides. If that doesn’t sound funny to you, think again – that’s Taika Waititi as the cult leader, accompanied by an excellent comedic ensemble cast.

Inspired by the hauntingly beautiful artworks of Simon Stålenhag, this Amazon Prime series drops us into a strange and sometimes magical town that’s set atop “The Loop,” a machine that was built to make the impossible possible. Premieres 4/3/2020.

Steven Spielberg reboots his late-1980s anthology series with a new run on Apple TV+. Like the original, it will combine science fiction, horror, and fantasy, with a slightly lighter and more magical touch than Twilight Zone or Black Mirror. Premieres 3/6/2020 with an initial run of five episodes.

(Spoilers) Rian Johnson’s surprise hit mystery-comedy Knives Out offered a fun take on the whodunit formula, with its ample mix of quirky characters and plot twists. But that doesn’t mean it didn’t have its share of foibles… and Screen Junkies is here to point them all out as usual.
