YouTuber Ahoy’s latest lecture is about one of man’s first and favorite weapons. The bow and arrow have persisted across changing needs, ages and cultures. As such, in video games it’s found not just in shooters but also in RPGs, RTS games and more.

Man at Arms: Reforged used two different methods to create replicas of Elektra’s – and Raphael’s – weapons of choice. They made one sai out of a single piece of metal, and the other with three pieces welded together.

Man at Arms: Reforged didn’t have a Sorting Hat, so they had to make a replica of Godric Gryffindor’s sword the hard way. But it’s worth it just for that marvelous silver handle. It’s amazing how much finesse is involved in making lethal implements.

(PG-13: Language) The Sam O’Nella Academy presents a brief look at some of the highly creative and nasty ways you could be killed back in medieval times. Though we do think an actual giant ape tossing boulders would have been more intimidating than the Warwolf.

Man at Arms: Reforged and guest host Danny Trejo promote Battlefield 1 by making a machete jambiya. While often worn as an ornament, the dagger isn’t just for show. Its curved shape makes it easy to draw, while its ridge adds mass and rigidity.

Primitive Technology spent about a day making a spear thrower. It’s made from a branch that had a smaller branch shooting out of it. The branch’s collar acts as a cup that cradles the spear. It let him throw a spear up to 49ft. away.
