Awesome Animation

When we think about how much work it must have taken BLU to create this 10 minute long animation about the evolution of man, using graffiti on walls, floors and objects, it makes our heads spin.

This clever ad for HP Photosmart printers was shot by printing out each frame of its animation in real time. We’re amazed they didn’t jam or run out of ink. Nothing like a little movie magic.

Green City Energy GmbH commissioned animation expert Musclebeaver to make this short clip about “investing green”. It’s a humorous but sobering warning about where our money is going.

Johnny Depp and Pirates director Gore Verbinski reunite for this quirky animated film, in which Depp plays a lizard who finds himself in the desert without a drop of water to drink. (Opens 3/4/2010).

To kick off their UK and European tour, bass guitarist and band-leader Murdoc narrates this part-animated, part-real world film which is well worth the 15+ minute watch for fans of the band.

This nifty music video for Breakbot’s Baby I’m Yours was created from a series of ~2000 handpainted watercolors by Irina Dakeva. The song is pretty awesome too.

Kaktus Film’s Mega Robot animation is only 24 seconds long, but the incredible photorealism in this short clip gives us new-found appreciation for CGI artists. Kaktus, feature-length flicks, please!

This short animated film by Alex Varanese is a wonderful tribute to 8-bit video game style. Alex says he was inspired by both Michel Gondry and R-Type, and you can definitely see both influences.

Tyson Hesse’s short animated film revolves around a very special light switch that results in some unexpected consequences when it’s flicked on and off. Charming, well-animated, and funny.

MegaMind, starring Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, Tina Fey and Jonah Hill, is a satirical take on superhero movies in which a notorious villain loses his oomph after he accidentally kills his nemesis.

Batman encounters a mysterious villain who knows all of his dark secrets. The film stars the voices of Bruce Greenwood, Jensen Ackles and – wait for it – NPH! Coming to DVD and Blu-ray this Summer.

Ignignokt and Err encourage Meatwad’s bad behavior in this mini-classic from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Don’t mess with them. They’ve got 5,000 dimensions, and a killer quad-laser.

This clip gives us a brief, but thrilling glimpse into the CG animated drift-racing world of The Driver. The television series won’t hit sets until Summer 2011, but our curiosity is certainly piqued.

Might there be a touch of romance in the cards for Barbie as we meet the sophisticated Ken in the new trailer for Toy Story 3, due out in June? We think the blue leopard print shirt is a dealmaker.
