Awesome Zombies

It’s a brief :30 second spot, but we just love the juxtaposition of hordes of attacking undead set to the upbeat tones of The Turtles’ 1967 classic Happy Together in this commercial for the Xbox One zombie shooter.

(Gore) Start your Halloween celebration early with a very special rendition of the holiday classic Monster Mash, as sung by the characters of The Walking Dead – sorta, kinda. Well at least they deliver on actually mashing some monsters.

Collegehumor presents a dark tale of a desperate and egotistic high school chemistry teacher who comes up with the ultimate drug… and unwittingly brings about a zombie apocalypse. A typical depressing AMC show.

(Gore) A look at the various weapons, costumes and vehicles that you’ll be able to collect and craft in Dead Rising 3. Some of the weapons like the lightsaber aren’t new to the series, but there seem to be a ton of new toys to play with.

It’s time for Phillip Blake (aka The Governor) to get what’s coming to him in the latest expansion novel from The Walking Dead. If you haven’t read ’em already, pick up Rise of the Governor and The Road to Woodbury first.

Mega64’s Rocco gets just a little too immersed in the PS3 hit The Last of Us, and confuses his real life with the zombie apocalypse. And crafting stuff from scissors, tape and towels. And throwing bricks at stuff.

Joerg Sprave’s latest weapon can fling bolas – or really a surujin – through the air, wrapping the projectile around the neck, arm or leg of its victim. He says he designed it to capture zombies so you can break off their jaws.

(NSFW: Language) Created in collaboration with Keiji Inafune, Yaiba is a spinoff of Ninja Gaiden about a ninja who was killed by Ryu Hayabusa. Instead of difficult battles, the game is a fun, zombie-filled hack-and-slash. More here.

(Spoilers, Gore) Effects house Stargate Studios shows off their brain-bashing, head-chopping, limb-removing, blood-spraying VFX chops in this reel of some of the insane zombie kills seen in The Walking Dead Season 3.

Set in a zombie apocalypse, Cargo sees a father determined to take his baby to safety. The problem? He’s been bitten. The short takes an overused hook and what would otherwise be a clichéd scene into a powerful story.

“Every human being we save is one less we fight.” A little girl needs a dictionary, hippie Brad Pitt tries to save the world and the running dead go amok in the latest trailer for World War Z.

A combat demo of Dead State, a turn-based RPG set in a zombie apocalypse. But instead of killing the undead, players will focus on scrounging for supplies and improving their shelter. Trailer here.

A low-budget indie zombie flick with a quiet intensity and sense of terror as its small core group tries to deal with the psychological and physical torments of the zombie apocalypse. Digital release 6/2013.

It’s every man – living or otherwise – for himself in Corridor Digital’s post-apocalyptic short. It has references to the eponymous videogame mod, but you’ll still enjoy it even if you don’t play DayZ.

While not every character in The Walking Dead board game has survived the horde, it’s still a fun game to play with your fellow zombie fanatics for an hour or so before or after an episode.

(NSFW: Language) A hilarious short about a hardware store crew whose love of The Walking Dead, hatred of rude customers along with mind-numbing boredom led him to plan for zombies.

A reminder that the dead have been walking long before Robert Kirkman and his comics came along. Though we’re not sure if a mob of hipster mummies would be as scary as zombies.
