Awesome Mech

The Braun S9 shaver is pretty slick looking as electric razors go. But even if you squint really hard, it’s hard to envision this thing turning into a mech. But model maker RAY Studio used his imagination and crafting skills to transform this $300 groomer into a detailed figure inspired by War Machine from the Iron Man series.

If there’s one kind of toy that we wish LEGO would make more of, it would be shape-shifters. Moko Brick Laboratory shows off an awesome custom LEGO series that looks like a Rubik’s cube, but transforms to form a mech. Among the designs are an Iron Man Hulkbuster, Aliens Power Loader, and Super Mecha Mario.

We’ve seen the amazing walking mech from Furrion Exo-Bionics before. The Hacksmith managed to score some seat time piloting this incredible 9,000 pound exoskeletal robot. It’s a bit involved just squeezing inside of the thing, but he learns to make it walk in just seven short lessons. When can we have a go?

Supposedly, Furrion’s 15 foot-tall mechanical exoskeleton will eventually be used in mech racing competitions. At this point, its still slow and clunky, but we’d still love to have one to stomp about in because it just looks cool.

Korea’s Hankook Mirae corporation is developing a real world take on the movie and video game staple – the manned mech suit. Autoblog’s Translogic managed to score a hands-on demo of their Method v2 robot. It doesn’t move fast, but it sure is impressive.

The giant robot duel between MegaBots and Suidobashi Heavy Industries has been delayed for more than a year. But the Americans finally appear to be ready. Meet Eagle Prime, the combat-ready – and hopefully pilot-safe – version of their hulking mech. USA! USA! USA!

First released in 2001, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin is a comic book retelling of the 1979 anime that launched the entertainment juggernaut we know and love. Now you can read its English version legitimately for free, thanks to manga publisher Comic Walker.

Bandai does justice to the Kaiju-conquering mech from Pacific Rim with this 9″ tall die-cast metal action figure. The Soul of Chogokin GX-77 Gipsy Danger has light up parts and sound effects and comes with chain swords, interchangeable hands and a cargo ship.

From special effects masters Weta Workshop comes Giant Killer Robots: Heavy Hitters. It’s a board game about corporate mechs salvaging abandoned cities for profit. Pick your mech and pilot and either salvage the most resources or destroy the enemy mechs.

In tribute to the insane knife-wielding robot that Simone Giertz built, the guys behind Megabots’ Mk. III combat robot equipped their killer mech with a pair of its own blade hands, and put Simone behind the controls of the behemoth.

Titanfall was one of the big Xbox One launch titles, offering epic mech battles, but decidedly last-gen graphics. Its sequel aims to remedy that, unshackled from the Xbox 360, plus this version is coming to the PS4 too. Here’s our first tiny glimpse at a jumbo mech with a big sword.

BattleTech co-creator Jordan Weisman and his studio Harebrained Schemes – the developer behind the recent Shadowrun games – are bringing back the mech franchise as a turn-based game for Windows, Mac and Linux. They should put MegaBot and Kuratas in here.

Who wouldn’t want to have a building-sized walking tank? This fun commercial for the run-and-gun fps Titanfall is a pure power trip. On second thought let’s just keep the mayhem and wanton destruction in virtual worlds.

The latest gameplay trailer for the PC, Xbox One and Xbox 360 FPS Titanfall shows off one of the game’s titular mechs, the Ogre. This Titan is designed to be a tank, sacrificing speed for formidable defense and attack.

Titanfall seems to be EA’s answer to Destiny. The game is a multiplayer-focused FPS where players can fight on foot as well as with mechs. Infantry are more agile, but the mechs are more powerful. More at NeoGAF.
