Awesome Giant

A look at the ginormous Antonov An-225 Mriya jumbo jet as it came in for a landing at Oakland International Airport. Apparently, the massive airplane was hired by the US Government to pick up typhoon relief supplies bound for Guam, and had to stop to refuel on its way from Kiev.

LEGO fan and maker Adam Woodworth has supersized yet another model. This time he took the basic LEGO helicopter from the International Jetport kit and made a gigantic version that actually can fly. He had to use foam instead of plastic bricks to pull off such magic.

For his latest build, Jackman Works created a jumbo-sized, hand-carved wood replica of a utility knife. It’s fully-functional, and just the right size for opening Paul Bunyon’s Amazon packages. He got the inspiration for the giant knife blade from fellow builder Jimmy DiResta.

That’s not a knife. THIS is a knife! The exaggerations in the video for this giant “pocket” knife make it sound like an April Fools’ gag, but it turns out that the 32.25″ long Giant Microtech Halo V 3X really was available a few years back for just under $10,000.

The cinematic trailer for Extinction, an upcoming action game clearly inspired by Attack on Titan. Battle colossal enemies using fully destructible environments and upgradable skills. The game will also have a horde mode and a level editor. Drops sometime in 2018.

This scale model of an EC-135 ADAC Notarzt Christoph 33 helicopter is so ridiculously huge that it might as well be the real thing. It weighs in at about 108 pounds, has an 11.5 foot rotor diameter, and gets its lift from a turbine engine. Skip to 3:45 to watch it take off.

While much of the world has moved on to video games, we still enjoy a good game of pinball every now and then. We’d definitely love to play Galactic Dimension, a huge machine built for the Phæno science center in Wolfsburg, Germany.

Tuscon’s Pima Air & Space Museum built a paper airplane that was so big it had to be lifted and launched by helicopter. The 800lb. plane hit a top speed of 98mph before it crashed to the ground.
