When a creature awakens in the woods, he searches the depths of his memories for clues as to how he got there and why he’s in the condition he’s in. Animator Aiden Whittam and written/director Ryan Oligmueller’s stop-motion short film takes on the difficult topic of depression in an artful and compelling way. Using LEGO Technic components, it’s possible to build a toy weapon that fires ammunition using air pressure. After building some simpler LEGO pneumatic guns, Jamie’s Lego Jams created this impressive bit of kit that uses motors to pressurize air tanks. It fires plastic axles, knitting needles, and other skinny projectiles with a strong burst of air.

Maker Ivan Miranda wanted to build a mechanical clock that uses marbles to show the time. He created an elevator that lifts marbles and drops them into a track. He used light sensors to detect white marbles and solenoids to release the right ones to display dot-matrix digits. It’s a work in progress, but it’s already impressive. Because of drivetrain limitations, the fastest reverse drive was just 53 mph. Thanks to electric motors, that record has been smashed. The Rimac Nevera hit a reverse speed of 275.75 km/h or 171.34 mph. Since the Nevera’s drivetrain has no gears, it is capable of moving backward or forward at crazy speeds. It’s the icing on the cake after the Nevera broke 23 other records.
