Shinichiro Watanabe’s (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo) prequel short film for Blade Runner 2049. It’s about the catastrophic event in 2022 called the Blackout. A massive EMP set off above the US leads to a global crisis that persists in the movie.

(PG-13) Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange features a dark and disturbed main character, but somehow we still come to sympathize with Alex DeLarge. ScreenPrism brilliantly analyzes one of film’s greatest anti-heroes, whose charm and sophistication are oddly appealing.

Drop right in the middle of the Red Bull District Ride urban MTB freeride through Nuremberg, courtesy of a 360º camera mounted atop one of its rider’s helmets. We suggest watching it a few times from different angles, like backwards, or looking down on the guy’s helmet.

(PG-13) CalArts animation alum Aram Sarkisian’s animated short film will pierce you to the core with its dark tale of a man tormented by his demons. The haunting imagery is accompanied by sharp as a tack writing, and amazing voice work by Matt Kelly. (Thanks Rob!)

Hand Tool Rescue shared this chainsaw-wielding, wheeled machine that can be placed around the trunk of a tree, then climbs its way towards the top, trimming off branches as it goes. We’re not sure how knows when to come back down. Original footage via Bidone1967.

Stunt and rallycross driver Ken Block tears up Pikes Peak in the latest build of his Hoonicorn RTR – a 1965 Ford Mustang kitted out with a 1400hp engine, and shod in sticky Toyo Proxes R888R tires. He doesn’t take the fastest route, but he burns plenty of rubber on the way.

“It’s like a Baby Björn, but with more sharp propellers!” Simone Giertz’s invention for bad parents is right up there with Useless Duck Company’s Baby Bottle Robot in terms of safety, but it sure would be more convenient than pushing a stroller.

Primitive Technology made bricks and roof tiles out of plain old mud. He made molds out of wood, then dried the bricks in the sun and in a kiln. He realized that he should filter the mud next time, because the sand and gravel resulted in brittle bricks and tiles.

Illustrator Sylvain Rusques‘ abstract short film doubles as the music video for Yom from Mars‘ alt-rock track Bad Mechanical Systems. It follows an astronaut as he journeys through a mysterious world on a mission to space. It’s thin on plot, but the animation is top notch.

Motor Trend held its annual quarter-mile drag race on Vandenberg Air Force Base’s 15,000ft.-long runway. The 12 competitors are the site’s favorite cars for 2017, including the Mercedes Benz AMG GTR, the Ferrari 488 GTB, and the Tesla Model S P100D.
