Musician Seth Everman returns with a special holiday version of his game genre music video, in which he plays classic Christmas tunes in the style of classic games. Our favorite is the Super Mario 64 version of Deck the Halls.

Nintendo’s endless runner is as polished and innovative as other Mario games. Super Mario Run simple tap and hold mechanic is fresh and fun. It also has asynchronous multiplayer and a kingdom-building minigame. The initial stages are free, but it’s $10 to play the full game.

A wonderful book for anyone who loves video games. Author Dustin Hansen explores the origins of arcade, console and PC games dating back to Pong, all the way up to modern games like Overwatch, with an eye towards the creators and their sources of inspiration.

Ellie channels Beth from The Walking Dead with a little song in the reveal trailer for the sequel to Naughty Dog’s awesome survival third-person shooter. It’s a cinematic trailer, but knowing its creators, the game is likely to look just as good.

A fun and offbeat mobile platformer in which you’re propelled through the universe via an endless stream of puke, set off by your allergy to eggs. It’s packed with quirky characters and environments, and offers challenging gameplay. Out now on iOS and Android.

(SPOILERS, Gore) These days, a lot of games claim to offer replayability and the freedom to choose how you’ll solve their challenges. But as YouTuber Cosmic Contarian shows in this silly video, Dishonored 2 more than lives up to that promise. Jindosh! I’ve come to bargain.

We’ve heard plenty of cover versions of the music from Mario games, but Samuraiguitarist knocked it out of the park with this one, which not only perfectly lines up with the gameplay in the top left corner, but includes appropriate sound effects produced with his guitar.

On the surface, ICEY appears to be a nice enough side-scrolling beat ’em up. But like The Stanley Parable it opens up when you overcome your gaming habits and ignore or break the game’s rules, making it ripe for repeated playthroughs.
