Ever wonder why statues and other geeky collectibles cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars? Watch artist Chie Izuma in action, and you’ll understand. Watch her meticulously paint the $700 Sideshow Collectibles Batgirl statue, eyeballing it all the way. Remember, she does this for each statue, and this is just one step in the whole process.

The PaintCam EVE is a robotic security camera that not only spots intruders and alerts you to their presence, but it can also shoot them with paintballs, UV marking ink, or tear gas pellets – though the latter might not be legal depending on where you live. The higher-end models can automatically detect animals and familiar faces so as not to target them.

Camera repair technician Ryan Jones of RJ Repairs shows how he restores these details on a vintage Leica by applying Testors enamel model paint using a dental pick and then removing the excess using a Q-tip. It’s so satisfying to see the crisp shapes after cleanup.

An ordinary spray paint can only produce a single color. Ukrainian street artist Vitaly Tesh invented a spray can that can output numerous colors. After an earlier effort to build the system, his updated Graffiti Color Mixer 2.0 produces smooth transitions between four source colors. His custom-built remote control lets him switch colors on the fly.

Most portraits are painted on canvas or paper. This skilled artist paints on the inside of glass bottles. The process doesn’t just require a steady hand and precision but the ability to think about images in reverse. While the results are impressive, this isn’t a unique talent – the practice of painting inside small snuff bottles dates back to the 17th century in China.

He has lots of tricks up his paint-covered sleeves, but one of his more ingenious hacks is this multiple nozzle rig, which can spray five lines of paint at the same time. He made an alternate version for calligraphy.

Watch as a talented craftsperson turns a metal disc into a beautiful work of art by applying heat from a torch. The control it must take to create such a precise pattern is extraordinary. We’re not sure who created this piece, but it looks a lot like the work of Skip and Racheal​ Mathews, who use the technique on copper.

Artist Sunday Nobody creates art inspired by memes. He created this amazing 16-foot-tall pixel art portrait of Bob Ross using 7104 paint swatches collected by his followers. Now that he’s dismantled the piece, he’s selling fragments of the work in batches of eight framed swatches with a map to their original location.

We’ve seen an engineer build a robot that can paint giant wall murals. JBV Creative’s robotic painter is decidedly less precise in its approach to creating art, though its abstract paint splatters could still land its entirely randomized works in a modern art museum.

An ordinary ping pong table has a simple green or black finish. His creative approach involves splattering paint onto a canvas to lay in the backgrounds, adding details with a palette knife, and letting the drips of paint become watery reflections at the bottom. Light painting is the process of capturing long-exposure images of a light source being moved. Most light painting is done by hand and with 2D images. Create a photorealistic scene that makes it look like holes are cut through a wall so you can see the building, grass, and trees behind it.
