Awesome Paintball

The PaintCam EVE is a robotic security camera that not only spots intruders and alerts you to their presence, but it can also shoot them with paintballs, UV marking ink, or tear gas pellets – though the latter might not be legal depending on where you live. The higher-end models can automatically detect animals and familiar faces so as not to target them.

This excerpt from Science Channel’s How It’s Made takes us inside of a factory that churns out millions of paintballs every year. It turns out these painful projectiles are basically made from the same stuff that gummy bears are made of – though we bet they don’t taste as good.

Gav and Dan toy about with a duo of custom-built rigs which can fire thousands of paintballs at a time, like pellets from a shotgun. They make a horrible mess, and look awesome in slow motion – especially that color mixing face-to-face shot at the end.

The Armourgeddon in Leicestershire, UK offers a unique paintball experience: 3-on-3 battles aboard FV432 APCs. While they don’t fire live rounds, they are each armed with a 40mm paintball cannon.
