Awesome Data Visualization

Science fiction books, TV shows, and movies often set their stories in real locations in space. The Overview Effect put together a visualization that charts the relative locations of stories in fictional works like Star Trek and Alien, and Dune, using actual places in the universe to illustrate their distances and relationships.

DoodleChaos loves to create visualizations of music. While they usually use programs like Minecraft, Planet Coaster, and Line Rider, they made this video with a custom Unity program that reads MIDI files and drops an object each time a key is pressed. As the music progresses, the density of the falling Tetrominoes goes insane.
