You know what your fridge needs alongside all those magnets? A creepy, 8-legged robot, that’s what. LEGO builder Sariel put together this crawling machine that uses Power Functions motors and magnets from LEGO train sets to trek up the steel side of a fridge. It stays on by lifting and moving no more than two legs simultaneously.

Just like a real car, the tires on LEGO vehicle can make a huge impact on grip. LEGO expert Sariel built a motorized and weighted test rig to see how different official LEGO and third-party tires perform on different surfaces to figure out which ones are the best for traction. Place your bets now.

The LEGO Technic Control+ app lets you remotely control motors and other components using your phone. To prove its muscle, LEGO and Sariel’s Workshop teamed up to see if they could use it to control a real Liebherr 9800 excavator using only the parts from the Technic version. Expert LEGO builder Sariel shows off an impressive vehicle he put together, a scale model of Caterpillar’s enormous 797F dump truck that weighs over 9 pounds. Thanks to a Mindstorms brain and Power Functions components, it can drive, and has working lights and a functional dump body that can transport a 4.4 pounds payload.

One-man LEGO Technic factory Sariel tops himself yet again with this badass model of the A39 Tortoise, a British World War II heavy assault tank prototype. Its drivetrain, cannon, turret and machine gun are controlled with a DualShock 4 via two SBricks.

LEGO enthusiast Sariel’s latest remote-controlled creation is based on the Dakar rally configuration of the Tatra T815 truck. The 12″ toy has a double wishbone suspension in front, a live axle at the rear and has a top speed of 7mph.
