Awesome Radiohead

At BBC Radio 1’s Piano Sessions, Thom Yorke performed Radiohead’s Everything In Its Right Place from their 2000 album Kid A. He also played a version of Suspirium, one of his tracks from his score of the Suspiria remake.

Radiohead’s Thom Yorke teamed up with Greenpeace to release an instrumental piece to help support nature conservation in one of the world’s most precious locations. The track is accompanied by dramatic black and white footage captured by the ship Arctic Sunrise.

(PG-13: Lyrics) Myrtle Beach, SC group Oracle Blue presents a fresh take on Radiohead’s 1993 hit track Creep, giving it a polished and jazzy new sound, headlined by the buttery smooth vocals of Liz Kelley-Tavernier and a wonderful flute solo by J.P. Taylor.

Musician Jon Gomm presents an acoustic guitar cover of Radiohead’s 1995 track High and Dry that will pull you in and won’t let go. If you liked what you heard, be sure to check out Passionflower, which put him on the map for his ability to retune his guitar while performing.

Tricked out in its current full band incarnation, Pomplamoose has been cranking out some great tracks, the latest being this unlikely, but just perfect mashup of Foster the People’s Pumped up Kicks and Radiohead’s Everything In Its Right Place.

We recently came across this amazing arrangement of Radiohead’s hit Paranoid Android, performed as a series of layered cello tracks by musician George Durham, with the string instrument taking on duties of both the melodic and rhythmic parts of the 1996 classic.

A fantastic cover version of Radiohead’s 1997 classic No Surprises, showcasing the enthralling vocals and musical minimalism of Italy’s Cristina And The Other One. Check out their YouTube channel for a few other great covers, including Yazoo’s Only You.

Since this video by Green Grass dates back to 2011, it doesn’t include Radiohead’s most recent albums, but it’s still fascinating to hear the soothing sounds you get when you play every song the band recorded between Pablo Honey and Supercollider/The Butcher simultaneously.

Musician Vladimir Peña presents a wonderfully different, and highly captivating cover version of Radiohead’s 1997 classic track Karma Police, performed in four part harmony on his trombone. For a minute there, we lost ourselves… we lost ourselves.

BBC Earth returns to the seas 16 years after The Blue Planet, but with the today’s camera tech, it’s sure to blow our minds like Planet Earth II did. The 5-minute short teases us with some of the incredible sights to come, and is set to a soundtrack by Hans Zimmer and Radiohead.

To coincide with the 20th anniversary of OK Computer, Scott Bradlee (of Postmodern Jukebox fame) performed a great solo piano arrangement of Radiohead’s 1997 track Karma Police. Like what you heard? Be sure to check out his Paranoid Android improv video too.

Radiohead headlined the first night of the TRNSMT 2017 music fest in Glasgow. Their 2.5h set included this performance of Paranoid Android, which BBC Music was kind enough to share. Check out more videos from TRNSMT here and here.

We’re not sure how we missed this incredible Radiohead cover when Weezer recorded it 2011, but we figured some of you might have missed it too. One commenter said Rivers singing Thom’s part was “Like seeing Woody Allen in a Batman movie.” We agree, but in a good way.

Scary Pockets shared this awesome funk arrangement of Radiohead’s 1993 classic Creep, brought to life by the smooth and soulful vocals of India Carney. If the guy on the Wurlitzer looks familiar, that’s Jack Conte, better known as half of Pomplamoose.

“Even when the ship is wrecked, I promise. Tie me to the rotten deck, I promise.” A disembodied android head takes in the sights of the city from the back of a bus in the music video for I Promise, a previously unreleased track from OK Computer.

A remastered version of the Radiohead classic OK Computer. It will also come with three unreleased tracks and eight B-sides. The boxed edition comes with a hardcover artbook, a notebook with copies of Thom Yorke’s notes from the time of recording, and more.

Musician Josh Cohen has a thing for performing cover versions of Radiohead tunes on his grand piano. Each and every one of the tracks will pull you in and won’t let go with its quiet intensity. We can’t decide if Everything In Its Right Place or Daydreaming is our favorite.

Another great cover by the Vitamin String Quartet. This time we’ve got Radiohead’s True Love Waits, which they recorded as well as Burn the Witch. If they sound familiar, that’s because they also recorded Motion Picture Soundtrack for Westworld.

(PG-13: Language) Radiohead’s original version already had a pretty good edge to it, but if you wait for the chorus to kick in, Leo Moracchioli’s metal cover kicks things up a notch or two, with an extra dose of angst and screaming.

You’ll want to put on your best pair of headphones, turn down the lights, and drink in Paul Thomas Anderson’s stripped down video of Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, and a vintage Roland CR-78 performing Present Tense from their album A Moon Shaped Pool.

More than 20 years ago, Radiohead appeared on an unlikely stage – MTV’s Beach House – turning in performances of their classics Creep and Anyone Can Play Guitar, and transfixing what would have normally been a rowdy group of college kids with their hard-edged alt-rock.

A fantastically rich and layered cover version of Radiohead’s recent track Burn The Witch, played on cello and cajón by Break of Reality. Seriously, we’d love to hear Thom Yorke’s vocals combined with these guys performance.

It’s been 7 years since Radiohead played their breakout hit song Creep for a live audience, but on 5/23/16 they broke that moratorium and played it live during their A Moon Shaped Pool tour at Le Zénith, in Paris, France. Watch the full concert here.
