Awesome Installation

If you find yourself in Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport, you might come across this unique timepiece. The video wall displays the current time using top-down footage of cars being driven into positions that form digits. The video was directed by Roni Azgad for the car rental company Shlomo SIXT. We’d love to see a 24 hour time-lapse.

Created by Raven Kwok for Shanghai’s TODTOWN, time++ is a computer generative artwork which displays the passage of time in a unique way. Particles appear on its screens representing the current second, and then migrate into position to display the hours and minutes as giant digits. Can we please have this as a screensaver?

Street artist DAKU’s overhead installation in Goa, India casts shadows of words onto the ground as the sun shines through its semi-transparent panels. When viewed in time-lapse, the design is particularly effective. (Thanks Richard!)

If you’re near San Antonio, check out Joe O’Connell and Blessing Hancock’s Ballroom Luminoso, a series of six chandeliers made from custom structural steel, LEDs and recycled bicycle parts, installed in a cement underpass.

Using found materials from the streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil, artist Henrique Oliveira creates amazing installation pieces. Some are like caves of wonder we would love to explore. (Thanks Trina!)

Bureau Spectacular’s Phalanstery Module is a zero gravity living pod; every 15 minutes, one of the multi-planed surfaces becomes usable (and every 7.5 minutes people inside fall into each other).

Wang Yuyang’s Artificial Moon was constructed from hundreds of compact fluorescent lightbulbs; it was originally exhibited in Shanghai, where the moon is frequently obscured due to light pollution.

This cool projection mapping artwork from Lumpens of Robot Taekwon V emerging from the Dome of Legend, aka Seoul’s National Assembly Building, jams to a entertaining soundtrack too.

Isabelle Hayeur’s Fire with Fire is a site-specific video project in Vancouver; the video loop piece simulates a fire in a building in Downtown Eastside, the city’s oldest and most run-down neighborhood.
