Artist Dan Shearn has a love of 1980s pop culture and a love of LEGO, so he combined these two into a series of illustrations, envisioning the decade’s iconic characters as minifigs. The Warriors is from 1979, but we’ll forgive him.
We thought this was pretty great, but then we saw Todd Edwards’ spectacular homage to 80’s movies and music in Story of the Running Wolf’s latest video. Limahl, Laura Branigan and A-Ha would be so proud. (Thanks Ben!)
Electronic music god Thomas Dolby was joined on stage by 83-year-old astronaut Buzz Aldrin for a live performance of his 1982 classic She Blinded Me with Science, exclaiming “Science!” with his awkward, but endearing intonation.

Music video for BrokenDate by Seth Haley aka Com Truise, off of his Galactic Melt LP. The video matches the 80s synth music frame for frame, from the Laser Tag guns to the shots and angles.
File under fun: this silky smooth combination of Eurythmics Sweet Dreams and The White Stripes Seven Nation Army might be the best mashup our ears have ever experienced. (Thanks Dale!)
Did you know that “a lot of brown bread is just white bread colored brown”? Watch and learn how bread was made in the ’80s in this amusing vid, hair and ripped shirts included. (Thanks Sean!)
If you got a flavor, yo I’ll sell it – check out the cone while my sprinkles evolve it. And check out Ben Douglass’ tee, inspired by an ’80’s pop legend, at RIPT today while you’re at it. (Thanks Wesley!)
If you like 80’s synth music, buddy cops, Jerry Bruckheimer, mullet-moustache combos and bromance, it’ll be worth your while to watch this goofy video from Grum. (Thanks Michael!)
This 4-way mashup seamlessly combines the music of Tom Jones, Rick James, Prince and MC Hammer. We’re not sure whether to dance or close the browser. Where’s Rick Astley when you need him?
Nerdcore rapper ytcracker takes on classic 1980s video games in this music video, animated by Doctor Octoroc, the same guy responsible for 8-bit Dr. Horrible. Let the pop culture references fly!
