We thought the original Tesla video was smoking, but ArcAttack’s own rendition of the Legend of Zelda theme with twin Tesla towers ups the ante with HD video goodness.

When is a candle not really a candle? When it’s a high-voltage plasma flame like the one shown here. James from The Action Lab shows how an ultra-high-frequency solid-state Tesla coil can produce an intensely hot flame that can’t be blown out and that can even melt steel.

Mehdi Sadaghdar from ElectroBOOM has made a career out of playing with electricity. He teamed up with Gav and Dan of The Slow Mo Guys to shoot some high-voltage sparks from his tesla coil and Marx generator. They managed to capture some incredible shots at speeds up to 1,750,000 frames per second. Here’s Mehdi’s video.

ElectroBOOM needed a vacuum chamber to see if his Tesla coil will still make sparks in a vacuum. But instead of buying one or looking up guides, he decided to wing it. “Sometimes spending money saves you more money and time.” We coulda told you that, Mehdi.

That unpronounceable acronym stands for “Tesla Coil Triggered, Ethanol Powered, Film Canister Gatling Gun,” a silly, overcomplicated, yet awesome weapon created by “Science Bob” Pflugfelder, capable of firing over 300 film canisters in 20 seconds.

Modern Thinker is Peter Terren’s rendition of Rodin’s classic Thinker, albeit with Tesla coils and sparklers; a fine wire mask and foil suit kept hit from becoming a Modern Charcoal Briquette.

It’s not quite as cool as playing Zelda with tesla coils, the Ocarina iPhone app is more portable and less likely to electrocute; you can even hear what others are playing around the world.

There I Ruined It takes a momentary pause from ruining songs to delight us with a little musical mashup. It makes no sense on paper, but combining Eminem’s Lose Yourself with the theme from Super Mario Bros. somehow works just perfectly.

James from The Action Lab shows off a physics demonstration that had us scratching our heads at first. While it appears that the ball bearing inside of this glass beaker will spin forever without adding energy, there’s a perfectly rational explanation of what’s going on. The Egg of Columbus demo is pretty neat too.
