Pomplamoose x La Roux
We’re really digging the bigger sound of Pomplamoose these days, now that they’ve expanded from a duo to a full band. Their latest track is a fantastic cover of the 2009 La Roux electro-dance track Bulletproof.

(PG-13: Lyrics) “This is America. Don’t catch you slippin’ up.” Donald Glover’s musical alter ego takes on gun culture, police brutality, racism, and materialism, all set against a banging beat, gospel vocals, and a brilliantly-directed music video from the amazing Hiro Murai.
Heavy metal musician and arranger Leo Moracchioli makes yet another track uniquely his own, transforming The Verve’s 1997 hit Bitter Sweet Symphony into a rough-edged, hard-rockin’, head-bangin’ new tune.
“Have you ever seen a prawn cause a world war?” Indie pop band Superorganism brought their irresistibly cute music and performance to NPR Music. They played The Prawn Song, Night Time and Something for Your M.I.N.D., all from their self-titled album.
The vibrant and upbeat music video for the song Kimi no Mikata by J-Pop act Kyary Pamyu Pamyu was shot in a single continuous take, using a combination of precise choreography and carefully-timed video footage played on an array of tablet screens.
Tristan Clarke and Joe Buono aka The Melodica Men present a fun full-length cover of Queen’s classic rock opera Bohemian Rhapsody, doing the fandango, thunderbolt and lightning on their silly mouth-blown instruments.
Yep, that’s Deadpool, in heels, dancing beside Celine Dion. The Merc with a Mouth definitely got a larger budget for Deadpool 2, and he probably spent all of it on this one. Watch the two sing and Flashdance to one of the original cuts from the movie’s soundtrack.
Pentagram Home Video’s follow up to their 2017 album conjures visions of helpless characters in a night gone horribly wrong, but a night that they survive nonetheless. The album is split into six tracks, but you should definitely listen to it end-to-end.
Musician Jon Gomm presents an acoustic guitar cover of Radiohead’s 1995 track High and Dry that will pull you in and won’t let go. If you liked what you heard, be sure to check out Passionflower, which put him on the map for his ability to retune his guitar while performing.
Leo Moracchioli proves once again that even the most unlikely of tracks can be covered in his growly heavy metal style. Here, he takes Dee-Lite’s big 1990 dance hit Groove Is in the Heart, and powers it up, while still retaining the whimsical slide whistle.
With the right synth patches, bass, brass section, and recording talent, Doctor Mix shows us how its possible to replicate the distinctive sound of Michael Jackson’s 1984 mega-hit Thriller incredibly well. Even with the King of Pop’s vocals gone, it’s an amazing performance.
Noisey introduces us to Tristan Shone, the musician behind Author & Punisher. His experience as a mechanical engineer led him to create unique tactile interfaces which he uses to create his distinctively analog industrial sound. There’s a great concert film here.
“Woke up in the morning, traveling straight into the sun.” Yep, that’s Bill Wurtz all right. The master of feel good vacuum pop is back with another insanely catchy song. This time he talks about escaping to various places and times. And being overwhelmed by salmon.
(PG-13: Language) ’90s alt-rock sensation The Breeders return to the lineup that gave them hits like Cannonball and Divine Hammer. This three song set offers a stripped down and fuzzed-out mix of folk and garage rock, including two from their new album All Nerve.
Headed up by the silky smooth vocals of entertainer Maiya Sykes, the guys from Postmodern Jukebox offer up a soul-stirring soul cover of The Cranberries’ haunting 1994 track Zombie. Man, that song always gives us the chills.
Joué is an incredibly versatile MIDI controller, thanks to its swappable modules. The modules’ buttons are made of soft and elastic material that responds to pressure very nicely. There are eight modules to choose from, some familiar and some quite unorthodox.
Two songs enter, one song leaves. Remixer Bill McClintock seamlessly combined Van Halen’s Jump with AC/DC’s Thunderstruck, resulting in the perfect interplay between two of the greatest rock bands of all time.
Leo Moracchioli belts out an extreme remake of Hansen’s 1997 teeny-bopper pop hit MMMbop which is pretty much what the song would have sounded like if the young brothers have been possessed by very angry demons whenever the chorus kicked in.
Musician Steve “SamuraiGuitarist” Onotera presents a hyperbolic short film about an itch he’s been wanting to scratch – stringing together all 37 of his stomp boxes, to hear what it sounds like when he routes his guitar through them all. That Miku stomp box is hilarious.
Tricked out in its current full band incarnation, Pomplamoose has been cranking out some great tracks, the latest being this unlikely, but just perfect mashup of Foster the People’s Pumped up Kicks and Radiohead’s Everything In Its Right Place.
More than three decades ago, Prince & The Revolution recorded Nothing Compares 2 U – a song that would later top of the charts for Sinead O’Connor. Now, the Prince estate has released the original, accompanied by never-before-seen footage of 1984 rehearsal sessions.
The end of Return of the Jedi saw its original Yub Nub song wiped out in one of George Lucas’ awful “special editions.” Auralnauts give the Ewoks the anthem they deserve with this rap track from their alt-Star Wars episode VI The Last Laser Master.
