With an illustration style and soundtrack clearly inspired by video games, this animated short film follows the adventures of a Game Boy-obsessed king as he seeks to rekindle the love of his lost queen. We want to play the game of this now.

These incredible works were made by Iowa artist Andrew Clemens over 100 years ago by meticulously placing colored grains of sand into bottles. They have stayed intact through the years, even though no glue was used.

Animator Glen Keane is known for his work on Disney classics like Aladdin and The Little Mermaid. In this short film created for Google’s interactive Spotlight Stories, his fluid style proves the artist’s hand trumps CGI. More here.

Aakash Nihalani used tape, fluorescent paper, corrugated plastic and magnets to make colorful bars that appear to pass through people, symbolizing “both the isolation and community” that he feels living in Brooklyn.
