The second-gen Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe is as powerful and quick as its predecessor, but it’s now a proper grand tourer, adding 7″ to its overall length and stretching its wheelbase by 3″. That improves luggage capacity and makes a 2+2 config possible so the kids can ride along. 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering are now standard as well.
The car is coming to the US in two models: The AMG GT 63 Coupe and AMG GT 55 Coupe. The AMG GT 63 has a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 that makes 577 hp and 590 lb-ft. of torque, launching the car from 0-to-60 mph in 3.1 seconds. Top speed is 196 mph. The AMG GT 55 is no slouch, with 469 hp, 516 lb-ft. of torque, a 3.8 second 0-to-60 mph time, and a 183 mph top speed. Both models get AMG Active Ride Control suspension, performance disc brakes, active aerodynamics, and an electronically-controlled rear limited-slip differential.
