We’ve stopped at the Bong Recreational area in Wisconsin and driven through Dildo, Newfoundland, but many other places have funny names too. Language expert RobWords takes us on a virtual trip around the globe to introduce us to places with names like Dick’s Knob, Scratchy Bottom, and Fan y Big.

These days, it’s pretty easy to find a clock that tells time with words. But this clock from Twisted&Tinned is the coolest variant we’ve seen. Behind each of its 114 letters is an individual servo motor that moves the letters into focus as they light up, adding a sense of depth to the display. A DIY kit is available on Tindie.

Artist Phil Vance paints portraits of famous people using their own words to create their images. In this time-lapse video, he builds up an image of author Hunter S. Thompson, layer by layer. His image of Dave Chappelle made from the words of his 8:46 special is equally incredible.

The Texttime is one of Cloudnola’s beautiful and minimalist clocks. It’s a flip clock, but instead of using numbers it tells the time using words. The clock has a silent mechanism and runs on two C batteries. It’s available in a black or bamboo case.
