Cambry from JerryRigEverything uses a wheelchair to get around, but obstacles like staircases can certainly get in the way. So she and her husband Zack reached out to Scewo to test out their amazing motorized wheelchair, which not only can climb stairs but can go off-road, and lift its passenger to a standing height.

Getting around in a wheelchair poses its challenges, especially when it comes to putting your chair away after sitting in a car. The AbiLoader by AbiliQuip can lift up a wheelchair parked next to the driver’s door and stow or retrieve it from the trunk in just 25 seconds.

Usually, if you need to get a wheelchair upstairs, you have to take the elevator or a ramp. But at Seattle’s Space Needle they have a special set of stairs that transform into an ADA-compliant wheelchair lift with the push of a button. The retractable lift was engineered by UK outfit Sesame.

Spinoflex’s AbleChair is an electric wheelchair that offers a variety of positions. You can raise or lower the chair, you can use it in a standing position, and even recline and fully lie down in it. You can control it via its app and even save presets.

The Shirley Ryan AbilityLab rehabilitation center is working on a wheelchair that will let users move while either sitting or standing. A belt integrated into the armrest lets the user move as well as adjust the wheelchair’s height.

The latest version of Howe & Howe’s all-terrain vehicle for wheelchair users has a 29hp 4-stroke engine, a 1,000lb draw bar pull, an emergency override and alarm. It can go up to 10mph and can be customized with cup and fishing rod holders, lights, a winch and more.

Based on the Segway transporter, Kevin Halsall’s Ogo wheelchair is controlled simply by using the abdominal muscles to shift one’s weight. It also has a joystick mode and can be operated manually. Its battery lasts up to 25mi per charge.

The Scalevo is a prototype design for a wheelchair with an impressive capability – it can climb stairs thanks to a tank-like set of treads and a hydraulic mechanism to keep its rider upright as they ascend or descend.
