Ever wonder how to become a pro sumo wrestler? Well, in Japan, growing up on Amami Ōshima gives you a big head start. Great Big Story paid a visit to this island, which is known for its long history of cultivating youth to become some of the country’s greatest sumos.

While we’re used to the seeing the massive bodies of sumo wrestlers flopping around in the ring, there’s something so funny about seeing these guys competing in a foot race. We think the shorts were slowing down the guy on the inside. Just let it all hang out, dude.

Munchies’ new series Fuel looks at the food that athletes eat. For its first episode, they enlisted the help of former Sumo World champion Byamba Ulambayar to talk about Chankonabe, a high protein Japanese stew.
