Awesome Stained Glass

We already knew that Simone Giertz likes building robots. She also enjoys working with stained glass, so she decided to combine two of her hobbies to create what is likely the world’s first stained glass robot. She started with a metal robot arm, then cut and soldered glass panels to replace the metal pieces. It was clearly one of her more frustrating builds.

Ironside’s unique, limited-edition PC features a stained glass side panel decorated with Yggdrasil, a sacred tree from Norse mythology that was said to support the universe with its roots. LED backlighting brings the colorful scene to life. On the front, you’ll find a Celtic hammer medallion, and inside choose from four different levels of PC performance.

This artful deck of cards features colorful stained glass imagery inspired by a powerful mythological entity. Printed by the US Playing Card Company with an Air-Cushion finish and packed in a matching box with a custom stained glass seal.

Hailing from Vladivostok, Russia, Art Brothers Glass makes some incredible stained glass pieces. One of their more modest works is this colorful suncatcher of the moon with a trio of astronauts (or cosmonauts) and a satellite dangling below. Each 8.9″ x 7″ piece is handmade, so expect subtle differences.

Normally, when artists make stained glass windows, they use hand tools to painstakingly cut the glass pieces. But maker Jimmy Diresta shows us how he used his Wazer desktop waterjet cutter to cleanly slice through colored glass. He then caulked the pieces into an acrylic “leading” he made with a laser cutter.
