Awesome Lava Lamps

The classic lava lamp finally gets the rocketship makeover it deserves. Created by lava lamp originators Mathmos, the Saturn Giant floor lamp measures 5 feet tall and stands on a trio of shiny aluminum legs. Each one is handmade in the UK and can be ordered in one of 10 lava color combinations.

Halloween may be over, but we’re still discovering some of the many awesome costumes that people wore for the holiday. Among the best ones we’ve seen is from Genevra Collier (aka tragopandemonium) who created an incredible outfit that turned her into a human lava lamp. See how she made it on YouTube.

Instead of the usual blob of wax, Kyle Haines’ The Rocket lava lamp is filled with ferrofluid – a liquid filled with tiny magnetic particles. The lamp comes with two magnets so that you can play with it out of the box. There’s also a variant that comes in an alien head bottle.
