Awesome Freestyle

Skateboarding sensei Gou Miyagi is a master of the grind. Thrasher Magazine takes us to Miyagi-Do for a lesson in balance, precision, and style with an entertaining demo reel from the unconventional freestyle. If you never saw it, check out Gou’s classic video from Heroin Skateboards.

We learned the hard way that riding a skateboard through school was a no-no. So we can only imagine the detention we would have gotten if we rode skis through the hallways like freestyle skier Matěj Švancer did after graduation. Though, we’re guessing Red Bull got permission to lay snow down in the hallways.

But rather than get frustrated, Fabio turned his home into a playground for his bike riding antics. Fortunately, his roommates are good sports. Also, we want to live in that house.

After a beautiful woman drops her handkerchief, mountain bike trials rider Tomomi Nishikubo heads off on a rather circuitous route to find her in this amusing freestyle action video shot around Tokyo. We loved the bits of humor scattered throughout, especially the pit stop scene.

If you’re going to leave your child with a famous freestyle mountain bike rider, don’t expect them to sit around on the couch. In this silly video from Danny MacAskill, he takes on daycare duties in the only way he knows how – with stunts.

Although the stunts are from his Imaginate video series, it’s still fun to see Danny MacAskill as he plays on giant toys from his childhood from a new perspective. This POV footage was shot 100% on GoPro’s HD HERO3 camera.

We’ve always admired Danny MacAskill’s talents on his bike; in the first of this six-part series we get to know the man behind the bike, working through concerns and options for his injuries, and reflecting on his career.

Director Mikey Schaefer captured pure beauty on film, as we see free climber Dean Potter walking a highline tied to Cathedral Peak in Yosemite National Park while the moon rises behind him.

Gabrielle Union swoons like it is her sweet 16 as the Fresh Prince lays down a freestyle with the aid of Doug E. Fresh and then goes on to treat her birthday crowd to some of his old school hits.

Freeride mountain biker Paul Basagoitia takes a beating numerous times but ultimately sticks the finish in his quest to conquer a natural terrain double backflip in the mountains of Southern Utah.

Skateboarder Gou Miyagi pulls tricks we can honestly say we’ve never seen before, in an amazing display of coordination and balance from Heroin Skateboards’ Nasty video series.
