Awesome Fences

Woodworker Matt Thompson has a pretty awesome backyard setup that includes his own private bar. He also built a model railroad along his wooden fence. The O-gauge train rolls along the L-shaped privacy fence and loops back and forth at each end, providing some extra entertainment for his visitors. As others have suggested, he should extend it into the bar.

We’ve seen how industrial machines are used to make large sections of chain-link fencing quickly. The Q built a tabletop version of such a device, but his machine is hand-cranked and makes only one zig-zag of wire at a time, so we imagine fencing in his whole backyard this way could take some time.

Iron fences are typically made by shaping and welding together multiple pieces of metal. But this factory uses a technique where entire fence sections are cast in large molds, with multiple workers pouring in molten metal to fill in the complete pattern at once.
