Awesome Die Antwoord

The music video for Die Antwoord’s track Age of Illusion is notable for a couple of reasons: 1) the trippy animations were created using AI technology by artist Sagans, and 2) its hypnotic electronic groove is a departure from the group’s hard-edged rave music. For a moment, we thought we were listening to Gorillaz.

(PG-13: Lyrics) “I don’t wanna fit in anyway, I’d rather be a misfit.” South Africa’s enigmatic duo teamed up with The Black Goat on this track that will hit close to home for anyone ever bullied, taunted, or harassed for standing out from the crowd.

(PG-13) The enigmatic South African rappers Die Antwoord are getting their own TV show. We have no idea what it’s about, but Ninja and Yo-Landi claim all the videos they’ve made over the last 7 years were all part of a grand plan for the show’s storyline.

(PG-13: Language) Die Antwoord’s Ninja isn’t exactly known for his political correctness, but if you can overlook that, his tale of his dealings with Drake and Kanye is too good to pass up. Julien Jourdain de Muzion’s accompanying animation is the cherry on the banana pudding.

When you’re living on the razor edge stay sharp, sharp… Musician Kaminari presents a decidedly different take on Die Antwoord’s alt-rap track Enter the Ninja, with a toned-down fingerstyle acoustic guitar take on the boastful original.

Frankly, we fink Die Antwoord are pretty freeky ourselves, so we can only imagine what our parents or grandparents would make of the provocative South African alt-rap-rave-??? band. Leave it to the Fine Brothers to find out.

(PG-13 Lyrics) Editor Robert Jones combined Die Antwoord’s 2012 hit track, I Fink U Freeky, with footage from TV’s equally strange Teletubbies, resulting in one of the most mismatched, but somehow just right mashups we’ve seen.
