We’ve always wanted one of those fancy Eames lounge chairs, but the real ones are just too expensive. Wood Design shows us how it’s possible to build a similar piece of furniture yourself, with enough time, effort, and skill. We prefer the original’s swivel base, but this version looks more comfy, and is still an impressive build.

This special edition of the classic board game Battleship is the polar opposite of the Neon Pop Edition. Its folding playfields are made from wood with a weathered look, and pack up into a crate for storage. We love the overall look, but we think wood boats and brass pegs would be nicer than the standard plastic ones.

After building himself a rustic keyboard from wood, builder of things The Q decided to make a matching mouse. He started out with a hunk of nice hardwood, copied the shape of a plastic mouse onto it, then got to work cutting it down, sculpting its form, then carving out its center to make room for its mechanism.

Located in Manchester City, UK, Etihad Stadium is one of the most iconic stadiums in Europe. Model maker FoBIRD took about 20 days to fabricate a miniature replica of the football stadium, using wooden skewers as his construction material. He did a great job capturing the facility’s architectural highlights.

Butcher block maker Brother in Wood shows off his computer controlled mill carving out an intricate pattern of famed Samurai Hattori Hanzō. He then used the machine to cut an inverse pattern in a contrasting wood, glued it in place, then milled off the top layer for an inlay effect. The finished cutting board is a work of art.

After impressing us with his sculpture of that Toyota Land Cruiser, Vietnam-based Woodworking Art is back with another great automotive woodcarving. This time, he turned a block of wood into a detailed replica of the Ferrari SF1000 Formula 1 race car. Though we can’t endorse using your bare foot as a wood vise.

Like many of us, Zachary Skidmore has temporarily found himself without a gym to work out at. With the help of a chainsaw, Zach built himself an outdoor workout facility by cutting up some trees near his house. It took him about 60 hours to fabricate the whole thing, and we’re sure he got a good workout doing that.

We’ve seen lots of nifty objects made from old skateboard decks, but what Woby Designs is showing off here is something different. By laminating together 20 wood decks, he was able to create a usable lumber with a colorful pattern running through its center. The prep work looks like the most time-consuming part.

A fantastic gift for fans of architecture and design, this kit lets you make a pint-size wooden model of Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic Guggenheim Museum. Vietnam-based Woodworking Art walks us through the process of building an accurate wooden model of a 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser. We particularly love the details in the grille and the tires, though he should have left the windshield and lights exposed as wood.

From the “don’t try this at home” file, Brad Russell shows off what happens when a 2000-volt transformer from a microwave oven is applied to wood painted with sodium bicarbonate. The result is beautiful, tree-like patterns known as Lichtenberg figures.
