Vollebak makes its Garbage Sweater using fabric produced from old firefighter suits and bulletproof vests. Rather than send these to the dump when they’ve run their useful lives, Vollebak recycles them into a handsome and cozy sweater that’s also fire-resistant.

Vollebak’s high-tech hoodie is made from an abrasion-resistant textile covered in ceramic particles like the ones found on the nose cone of a missile. The matte black fabric is soft and smooth to the touch, and highly elastic, while its brushed fleece underside keeps you warm.

Inspired by the camoulflage abilities of squids, Vollebak’s unique jacket looks a black oil slick in subdued lighting, but when exposed to the sun or bright light, millions of microscopic glass spheres make it reflect every color in the visible spectrum. Beyond its looks, it’s waterproof, windproof, and super easy to move in.
