Awesome Typeography

Artist Tomasz Biernat has incredible penmanship. He specializes in creating hand-drawn logos and illustrations which incorporate detailed lettering and flourishes. In this video, you’ll see how he drew the words “Focus and Practice” with style and precision using a 0.2mm mechanical pencil.

We’re grateful to have lower case letters, if only to limit people typing in ALL CAPS. The Generalist Papers digs into the history of letterforms in the English language on a quest to explain why we have two different versions of every character in the alphabet.

Artist and animator Daihei Shibata has a little fun in this series of playful vignettes for Japan’s NHK broadcast network. Each of the 30-second spots fools around with NHK’s typographic logo and incorporates an adorable anthropomorphic television.
