Awesome Too Many Zooz

Cake already proved that the Gloria Gaynor track I Will Survive could do quite well with the addition of a trumpet. NYC bands Too Many Zooz, Lucky Chops, and the High & Mighty Brass Band teamed up to perform the disco classic primarily on brass instruments, and it sounds pretty stellar.

NYC trio Too Many Zooz offers up another dynamic cover of a hit song, this time taking on Michael Jackson’s 1988 track Smooth Criminal. The tune sounds as awesome as ever as an instrumental on brass and percussion.

The members of the brass-forward, lo-fi NYC band Too Many Zooz turn in one of the coolest cover versions of Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit ever. Matt Muirhead’s trumpet stands in for Cobain’s vocals, Leo Pellegrino’s baritone sax takes the guitar parts, and David Parks kicks out the beats on his marching band drum kit.

One of the perils of living in the big city is being awakened in the middle of the night to the sound of an annoying car alarm that just won’t shut up. Back in 2018, the group Too Many Zooz invited musicians to create something more entertaining with the repetitive noise, and Pittsburgh band Big Blitz rose to the challenge.
