Thermite

While most of the videos on the Internet that involve thermite end up destroying stuff, The Backyard Scientist decided to use the extremely hot concoction to fire a crucible for casting a sword. The result isn’t the most attractive looking thing, but still an effective weapon.

Inventor Colin Furze continues to up the destructive ante with his dangerous creations. This time, he’s made a Steampunk-style rocket launcher that fires shells filled with 2000º+ thermite. Making of here and here.

We’ve seen thermite obliterate pumpkins and roast a turkey, so using it to boil water seems a bit pedestrian by the Internet’s standards. But using it without wearing safety equipment is another story altogether. Or just another day for Colin Furze.

We recently saw carsandwater’s failed attempt to destroy a hockey puck with his almighty red hot sphere. Now he’s brought out the big guns – engulfing the puck in thermite, which burns at 4000ºF. Will the mighty puck surrender?

If you haven’t thawed the turkey yet, you’re probably screwed. That is, unless, you’ve got some thermite lying around. Not only will this stuff thaw your bird, it’ll cook it in under 30 seconds.
