Vitamin String Quartet: Fairytale of New York

Now that it’s mid-November, we figure it’s okay to start playing a little Christmas music. Let’s start off the festivities with this great instrumental cover of The Pogues’ cynical classic Fairytale of New York, performed beautifully by the Vitamin String Quartet. We love how the fiddle embodies the spirit of Irish folk music.

The sad clown with the golden voice teamed up with musician Storm Large for a most excellent cover version of The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl’s cynical holiday classic Fairytale of New York, a song that still gives us chills every time we hear it.

Puddles Pity Party bumped into Cáit O’Riordan of famed punk-folk band The Pogues and convinced her to join him in a duet of I’m A Man You Don’t Meet Every Day, a traditional Irish folk song the Pogues’ famously performed on Rum Sodomy & the Lash.
