Awesome The Hacksmith

A few years back, Nike made a working version of its MAG sneakers from Back to the Future II. After a couple of guys from Hacksmith Industries figured out that their leader might not know how to tie his own laces, they engineered a pair of self-lacing Vessi sneakers which are a bit more subtle in style than the ones from the movie.

You would think lighting anything around your on fire would be a bad idea, but that didn’t stop The Hacksmith from doing just that. In this insanely cool build, they created a version of Ghost Rider’s fiery helmet that burns propane fuel. As a bonus, they threw in a flaming chain.

After building a retractable blade lightsaber, The Hacksmith is back to show off what this impressive plasma weapon can do. Watch in awe as it burns right through a Stormtrooper, slashes through walls, and melts metal and glass like butter. It’s not as quick at cutting as the ones in the movies, but just as awesome.

The Hacksmith has been trying to build a real-world lightsaber for quite some time now. The closest he’s gotten up until now is a deadly electric heating element. Now his shop has created a version that retracts like the ones in Star Wars, burning a 4000ºF beam of plasma. That brass and copper steampunk hilt is too cool for words.

Crazy inventions seem to be flying fast and furious from The Hacksmith’s shop. This build was inspired by the remastered Tony Hawk Pro Skater games. Designed to save skateboarders the trouble of doing their own kickflips, this RC electric board does the trick automatically. Along the way, they built a better mousetrap.

Inspired by the Junk Jet in Fallout 4, The Hacksmith went ahead and built a real-world replica of the unique and destructive weapon. Simply load up its steel barrel with anything you find lying around, and its airbag-powered launcher turns random junk into deadly projectiles.

The Hacksmith continues to build out his collection of superhero-inspired gadgets with a version of Aquaman’s trident that blasts streams of water from its three tips. He starts out with a small prototype, then scales up to a much more powerful full-size version. We’d like to see this connected to a larger water tank.

We’ve seen the amazing walking mech from Furrion Exo-Bionics before. The Hacksmith managed to score some seat time piloting this incredible 9,000 pound exoskeletal robot. It’s a bit involved just squeezing inside of the thing, but he learns to make it walk in just seven short lessons. When can we have a go?

Paddling along in a canoe can be a quiet and relaxing pastime. But the guys at The Hacksmith are having none of that. So they took a couple of jet engines from a past project and mounted them to the back of their boat. The finished canoe is crazy loud, quick, and looks dangerously flippable.

While The Hacksmith’s latest build isn’t as awe-inspiring as a working lightsaber or real doomfist, it’s still entertaining. Watch as they take an off-the-shelf NERF gun, and modify it to produce bloodcurdling screams (and other sounds) as its moved or fired, inspired by the screaming gun in Borderlands 2.

From webslingers to high-voltage Wolverine claws, The Hacksmith’s arsenal of superhero gadgets is approaching that of Stark Enterprises. This time, his shop put together a piece that combines Iron Man’s arc reactor with Captain America’s iconic shield, a weapon you can find in the game Marvel Contest of Champions.

Using a thermal sensor module out of a FLIR One smartphone module and some Zeiss Cinemizer goggles, The Hacksmith and engineering intern Ben managed to create a Predator-inspired helmet that actually displays heat and infrared vision just like what the creepy movie creature saw when it gazed upon on the world.

Tool company Litheli recently sent a bunch of their cordless power tools to the guys at The Hacksmith. Rather than use the chainsaws, leafblowers, and battery packs for their intended purposes, they strapped them to a couple of drift trikes to provide them with electric propulsion. They’re not fast, but it’s a fun build regardless.

With his adamantium skeleton replaced, Wolverine is impervious to just about everything. But his underlying bone claws aren’t nearly as strong. Rather than actual bone, The Hacksmith made himself a set from steel and tried to break concrete with them. Test footage starts at 10:00. They’re pretty awesome for Fruit Ninja IRL.

Over the years, The Hacksmith has made some pretty badass gadgets, often inspired by movie props and weapons. This time, they built themselves an awesome metal gauntlet that looks like Iron Man’s armor, then upgraded it with the ability to slice through metal with a plasma cutter. Every workshop needs one of these.

Not long ago, The Hacksmith showed off his insane high-temperature protosaber build. But one cannot duel with a single weapon, so one of his cohorts went about building a second one. With their power supplies placed into backpacks, they performed a dangerous ballet with their 2700ºF cutting tools while donning fire suits.

The Hacksmith takes on Tony Stark’s lifesaving device with his latest build. This impressive arc reactor replica uses ionized plasma to achieve its electrified effect. It looks spectacular, but it’s terribly loud, and there’s no way we’d strap this thing to our chest.
