Awesome The Beatles

Musician Luca Stricagnoli performs the classic Beatles track While My Guitar Gently Weeps to show off a neat new add-on he invented. Built by luthier Davide Serracini, the Reverse Slide Neck adds a twangy country sound to his acoustic guitar.

Meet the REO Brothers. Based out of Tacloban, Philippines, the rock band is exceptionally talented, and does an amazing job covering tracks from The Beatles like While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Penny Lane, Something, and In My Life. They also do quite the Alan Parsons Project cover.

After hearing Regina Spektor’s cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps, we knew that ballades by The Beatles lent themselves well to an Asian interpretation. Now Luna Lee has driven the point home with this warm and soothing cover version of their tune Michelle, played on the gayageum with her usual aplomb.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ Abbey Road, their company Apple Corps collaborated with Trunk Animation to create a new music video for Here Comes The Sun. The clip takes us inside the famed Abbey Road Studios’ Studio Two, and features rare band images, and film footage shot by Linda McCartney.

Musicians Rob Scallon and Mary Spender teamed up to perform a great cover version of The Beatles’ classic Come Together on a truly unique instrument – a two-sided acoustic with a 6-string guitar on one side, and a 4-string bass on the other.

Ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro and his fellow musicians turn in an outstanding performance of The Beatles classic Eleanor Rigby, with the uke complemented beautifully by Jerry Douglas‘ artistry on the lap steel guitar. From the album The Greatest Day.

We always thought The Beatles’ track Because a trippy and haunting tune to begin with, so it’s no wonder that the otherworldly sounds of the theremin suit the song so perfectly, especially in the capable hands of Cihan Gulbudak, one of the true masters of the unusual electronic instrument.

(PG-13: Language) The Beatles frontman Paul McCartney was rumored to have died back in the late 1960s. Director George Moore’s short film brings to life an alternative version of the myth – that he perished on a drug trip, and was replaced with a double by his bandmates.
