The creators of Wednesday use a mix of practical effects and CGI to bring Thing to life. Adam Savage went hands-on with the charismatic limb with Jesse Velez of Raptor House FX to see how an animatronic version of the hand works. This “hero” version of Thing was built using a modded Alt Bionics prosthetic hand controlled by a MANUS gesture control glove.
Wednesday season two features The Addams Family alum Christopher Lloyd as Professor Orloff, a Nevermore teacher who happens to be a head in a jar. ScanlineVFX shows how they pulled off the visual effect using their volumetric performance capture tech, a 3D camera system, and a wraparound screen that let Lloyd perform with his fellow actors.
Tim Burton’s fun and creepy Netflix series Wednesday is coming back this Summer. The Addams kiddo is headed back to the Nevermore Academy, and this time, her brother Pugsley is in the mix. Expect more murder, mayhem, and madness as troubles from her family’s past come back to haunt her. The first four episodes arrive on 8.6.25 and the rest on 9.3.25.
