Awesome That Works

MMA fighter and businessman Conor McGregor asked That Works to create a sword to celebrate his Forged Irish Stout. Matt Stagmer and Steve House from Moonshine Metalworks created this two-handed Irish Claymore, inspired by the sword on the beer can but with many added details. The etched slashes on the blade are the McGregor name in ancient Celtic.

Ilya from That Works has made some impressive historical weapons, but this is the first time he’s built a samurai helmet. He created the headgear with inspiration from the character Takeda in the game Naraka Bladepoint. The steel helmet is made from five pieces, with a two-piece Mempo mask and layered neck armor.

Ilya and Matt from That Works show how they fabricated an impressive historical weapon inspired by the game Outward Definitive Edition. They created the Italian Halberd from a 200-year-old wrought iron barn door hinge that they refined and forged into an elegant yet deadly axe with a spike on the end.

Inspired by a weapon in the RPG Genshin Impact, Ilya and Matt of That Works created their biggest sword yet. They crafted the hefty claymore-style weapon using traditional bladesmithing techniques. The two-handed sword has an enormous angled blade, and an ornate handle with a gleaming red glass sphere a its center.

The guys from That Works show off the build process for another awesome weapon replica. Matt and Ilya turn their attention to the ornate Dagger of Death’s Flowers from Resident Evil Village. Carving that handle from a solid block of aluminum looked like a ton of work.

The coiled sword in Dark Souls III is one of the coolest fantasy swords we’ve seen. Aleksey from Bellerophon Studios demonstrates a number of classic blacksmithing techniques to bring this awe-inspiring twisted blade to life. Matt from That Works provides the informative narration.

Sometimes, the blacksmiths at That Works like to make tools and weapons by recycling old metal. In this episode of their “From This to That” series, they take a big old link of a ship’s anchor chain, and transform it into a beautiful hammer with engraved detailing and a copper, silver, and gold inlay.

Inspired by the new Assassin’s Creed game Valhalla, the swordsmiths from That Works created a real-life replica of the badass Viking axe that’s front and center in Boss Logic’s game art. We love the detailing on the engraved logo and weathered finish that makes it look like it’s seen some serious battle action.
