A few years back, we took a POV ride-along on a coaster ride that winds through the mountains in Kandersteg, Switzerland. That original video was fun, but shaky and a little grainy. The Flying Dutchman took the same ride, but wearing a better camera that shoots in crisp 4K and has image stabilization for a much smoother ride.
Photographer Sylvia Michel captured this awe-inspiring footage walking through the clouds on a cliff-side bridge in Grindewald, Switzerland. The First Cliff Walk allows visitors to walk through some of the world’s most breathtaking vistas and includes this bridge to nowhere that hangs over the valley below. Most times, hiking involves walking on some kind of solid ground. But this awe-inspiring via ferrata path in Interlaken, Switzerland has adventurers walking along skinny metal rails hammered into the side of a cliff. The first time we went tandem paragliding, we jumped off of a cliff at Torrey Pines and landed on a nude beach filled with wrinkled old men. You might not know it, but depending on the location, trains might roll on different gauges of tracks. That normally means railroad engines and cars can only roll on compatible width tracks. But this ingenious rail car has an undercarriage that automatically adjusts its width to adapt between 1-meter-wide and 1.43-meter-wide tracks in Switzerland.

It must have taken some serious planning and coordination to pull off the continuous three-minute POV shot that zooms in and out of buildings and classrooms. Watch in 4K if you can.
A duo of Porsches takes to one of world’s best roads – Gotthard Pass in Switzerland, and DJI was on hand to capture the action with their Mavic 2 Pro drone, FPV system, and Osmo Action camera. Whether you’re into cars, cinematography, technology, or travel, there’s a little something for everyone in this brief clip. BTS here.
Take a ride on Switzerland’s Gelmerbahn – an open-air funicular that sends passengers along a 3,373 foot-long route with a maximum 106º grade. Raphael Sandoz captured this time-lapse footage to speed up the 8-minute journey. If you prefer a more leisurely ride, try this.
Start out with a 360º ride through Switzerland’s Gothard Base Tunnel, then take a tour of the myriad platforms, elevators, and walkways that surround the 35.5 mile long tunnel that runs through the base of the Alps. The video is narrated in German, but it’s self-explanatory.
