Awesome Sweden

Standing 20 stories tall, The Wood Hotel is the world’s tallest hotel mainly made from wood. Located at the birthplace of cross-country skiing, Skellefteå in Swedish Lapland, the 205-room property was built from locally harvested spruce and pine which smells awesome and absorbs more CO2 than it uses.

(Loud) When you’re freezing your ass off in the winter in Sweden, one way to keep yourself warm is to strap your butt to a pulsejet powered snowmobile, and fire yourself down an icy straightaway at speeds up to 150 mph. (Thanks Ola Andreas!)

If you ever find yourself passing through Stockholm, Sweden, consider spending a night at Jumbostay. Parked adjacent to Arlanda Airport, the retired Boeing 747 jumbo jet has been converted into a hotel, with rooms in its passenger cabin, cockpit, and engine nacelles.

About a year ago, MEL Films visited a Syrian refugee camp set up at a Wild West theme park in Sweden. While most documentarians would have left the story there, they decided to go back to see what happened in the wake of the changing political climate.

We flew to Arjeplog, Sweden to drive some of Jaguar and Land Rover’s awesome cars on challenging ice circuits, and spent the better part of a week going sideways and doing donuts. Attend for yourself, and you might even catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.
