Awesome Supersonic

This animated short film by Luke Etcheverry takes inspiration from the Bloodhound supersonic race car. It follows the story of a driver, a high-speed test drive that goes wrong, and his resolve to get back on his high-horsepower horse and try again. The 16-bit anime pixel art style makes it that much better.

We’ve seen some pretty fast and powerful NERF blasters, but as far as we know, none could shoot darts faster than the speed of sound. That’s what maker Mike Shake set out to do with his supersonic blaster. It took a lot of time, money, and experimentation to create a high-speed NERF gun that runs on compressed air and rapidly releases its pressure.

This privately-developed supersonic aircraft is all about speed. The 71 foot-long Boom XB-1 has a streamlined construction made from carbon composites, titanium, and aluminum. Powered by three GE J85 engines, it will serve as a testbed for the Overture supersonic passenger jet, which they hope to start flying in the late 2020s.
