Awesome Stunts

The infamous Steve-O dropped by The Slow Mo Guys’ headquarters for one of their best episodes yet. The idea was that he’d set his hand on fire, do a backflip and spit flammable oil to pop a hanging balloon, which would then unload water on him. The stunt starts at 2:11.

Skateboarders Mitchie Brusco and Italo Penarrubia teamed up to perform an unusual and impressive stunt – as they rode down a jumbo-sized ramp, across a jump, and swapped boards in mid-air before landing on the other side of the chasm.

BMX rider Davis Dudelis turned his bike into an impromptu unicycle, cruising 263 meters (~862 feet) balanced only on the front wheel of his two-wheeler. While it’s not been confirmed by Guinness, it’s definitely longer than the record for a rear wheelie.

A flexible weightlifter, a strong mime and acrobats of all ages, shapes and sizes feature in this year’s People Are Awesome compilation. Now we want to see a compilation of unglamorous but essential jobs. Check out the sources in the video’s description.

Consistently awesome street trials rider Danny MacAskill takes on another epic playground for his bike – the rooftops, railings, and staircases of the colorful and picturesque setting of Gran Canaria, in the Canary Islands.

Editor Zapatou has outdone himself with this 21-minute supercut of awesome people, places and things. There are over 500 clips of spectacular acts of athleticism, daring, free-spiritedness, humor and talent, each of which helps reaffirm your faith in humanity.

To demonstrate their durability and traction control system, Volvo Trucks put Sophie, a 4 year-old girl behind the wheel of an 18-ton truck, and asked her to drive it through a challenging obstacle course. For safety’s sake, she used a remote control. Thank goodness.

Watch as this little kid in Japan pulls one of the most epic and challenging BMX flatland tricks – a triple decade. That’s the move where you pull three full 360º spins around the handlebars. The bike drop at the end is the BMX version of the mic drop. Original on Vine.

(PG-13: Language) MrSlackline jumps from the Thug Mansion, a huge webbed structure that he built with nearly 100 other people. They used 21,000ft. of cords to make two large nets, both suspended from a height of 400ft. and connected by an 80ft. double slackline.

From the “don’t try this at home” file, watch what happens when this car is tethered to the rear of a moving vehicle, while its occupants swerve recklessly across the road. Fortunately, the car they’re torturing is Russia’s abysmal Lada Samara.

Legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk pulled off a crazy trick that seemed to defy gravity – as he zipped through a custom built obstacle that formed a horizontal loop. Of course, the attempt was not without a few painful failures.

Off-road race champ BJ Baldwin takes his 800 hp trophy truck through the forests and urban jungles of the Pacific Northwest to hunt down an elusive sasquatch named Bruce, who has a speedy off-road vehicle of his own. For more fun, check out Recoil 1 and Recoil 2.

James Kingston and a fellow free climber snuck up to the top platform of the Eiffel Tower. They ended up staying around 9 hours on the iconic structure, partly because they were spotted by security. They were eventually arrested but were let go without charges.

When we first saw how slowly this car was going around the racetrack, we figured that it had a mechanical problem. But it turns out it’s got much bigger issues than we could have ever imagined. (Thanks Robert!)

RJ Anderson takes the third version of UTVUnderground and Holz Racing’s souped up Polaris RZR XP Turbo through Ohio’s old steel mills, factories and train yards. The 1500lb. XP1K3 has a turbocharged 200hp engine, Walker Evans shocks and Holz’s invincible suspension.

A couple of tiny cars perform a stunt in which they balance on a fulcrum like a giant teeter-totter. We’re just impressed that the driver on the left didn’t back off the end of the ramp.
