(NSFW) The first episode of Long Story Short, a comedy series about the misadventures of a dude named Tommy. It’s presented like a spy thriller, except instead of a secret agent it stars a miserable loser.

Not to be confused with Everynone’s equally good short film, Yann Pineill’s graduation project presents a tale going full circle, all while exploring various manifestations of symmetry. If only life was this neat.

Two best friends finally reach their goal: a floating city filled with mysterious relics. Or so it seems. Like The Reward, Inbal Breda’s wonderful short film pits our strongest bonds against our most coveted desires.

(NSFW/Gore) In the distant future, humans have become immortal cyborgs but are unable to reproduce. Takahide Hori’s Junk Head 1 is a funny and horrifying masterpiece of stop-motion. For the love of God, let’s fund the sequel.

A man wants to return an unsightly fish back to the pet store because of how it looks. Tom Teller’s short film doesn’t have one outstanding feature, but somehow the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. YouTube mirror here.

The “Michael Jordan of short attention spans” is stuck between being too restless to study which leads to bad grades which leads to tutoring sessions which makes him sad or taking medication which makes him sad or. Or. OR.

(NSFW: Language/Gore) An action-packed short based on Tomb Raider, though the heroine here is more of a Hostage Rescuer. It also stars the world’s dumbest hostages and the dreaded villain Captain Exposition. Great fight scenes though.

A teenager finds a time capsule that his mom made for him back in 1994. The mementos are accompanied by a note. Casey Warren & Danielle Krieger’s film is based on a letter to Casey from his mom. She passed away when he was 12.

GoPro went to Africa with “lion whisperer” Kevin Richardson to hang out with and learn more about hyenas and lions. Richardson warns us that our vision of Africa as a continent filled with wild animals is fast becoming a fantasy.

The BBC is really getting with the times. This canonical short film is a prequel to the third season of Sherlock. The short sees Inspector Lestrade and Dr. John Watson peppered with omens that Sherlock is somehow alive.

(NSFW: Language) The war of the boxes escalates to the skies in Cardboard Warfare 2.5: World of Warplanes, the latest action-packed short film from the RocketJump crew. It’s a shameless plug for World of Warplanes, but we don’t care.

Supermarché’s profile on John Baldessari, a prolific conceptual artist known for remixing photos to create narratives, using text as visual art and his awareness of the precarious value of high art. Narrated by Tom Waits.

(NSFW, Flashing Lights) A short film dedicated to anyone who’s ever had a bad night out. Or to introverts in general. We know that feel bro. The Line nails the experience with great animation and audio.

A boy loses his glasses, leaving him able to focus on only one object at a time, led by the sounds they make. Nicolai Troshinsky hand made paper puppets and painted on glass to make his award-winning short film.

Alex Cornell presents a short film about a dystopic future in which civilian territory is monitored by highly intelligent and imperious UAVs with Watch_Dogs-like abilities. Worse, Adobe updates are still around. Dammit.

The denizens of this animated world must cope with a climate in which massive winds are an everyday occurrence. But they seem to take it all in stride, adapting to the environment without so much as a complaint. Directed by Robert Löbel.

(Gore) A man finds himself in a sick hunting game. He and his fellow hostages can run away from their captors, but if they don’t stick together a bomb locked around their ankles will go off. An intense short film by Ryan Connolly.

Terror is in the eye of the beholder. A simple-minded robot has a miraculous yet dangerous magnifying glass. Instead of magnifying an object, it actually enhances the object’s size. A silly animated short by Trexel Animation.

Jedi knight Merve Bushwhacker and some bloody thirsty rebels go after a Sith lord who’s hoarding all of the land’s beer. Star Wars Downunder is a silly tale filled with more Aussie jokes than we can recognize. Plain English captions available.

“You wanna pizz-a me?” We know that some sign spinners have mad skills, but Papa Roni’s rep takes it to the next level. And so does Papa Roni himself. Another funny and action-packed short from Corridor Digital.

(NSFW: Language) David Rees, “the number one #2 pencil sharpener in the world”, explains the nuances of his craft. Peter Smith-Buchanan would approve. Read his book if you want to know more. We can understand if you’re good though.

The Aficionauto spoke with Martin Sanchez, who bought and restored a ’58 Plymouth Fury that was used in John Carpenter’s adaptation of Stephen King’s novel Christine. But Martin and Christine’s bond is beyond just the film.
