Awesome Short Films

After a long wait, Jesús Orellana’s animated science-fiction short ROSA can now be seen in its entirety. A visually stunning short film, especially given its budget of… zero dollars. A true labor of love.

Sure, it’s a year old but you’ll probably still enjoy this e-card from 328Stories reminding us that the Friday after Thanksgiving isn’t the only thing black about the impending holiday season.

A young girl moves into a new house, discovering a bunch of old toys left behind. While it starts out with a little girl’s tea party, it gets much, much better. Trust us. Directed by Jason Wingrove.

If you want to know what the new Canon Cinema EOS C300 is capable of, check out this short film by Vincent Laforet. It’s easily spoiled so we’re not going to say any more. 1080p version here.

Max Winston’s I Live in the Woods! is a richly animated, terribly twisted tale of a woodsman’s journey, driven by happiness, slaughter, and a confrontation with the man upstairs. (Thanks Matt!)

Three minutes of poetic, without being sappy, Mat Harrington’s beautifully shot Machine tells the tale of a man, the bike he built with his own hands and the simple joy of the ride. (Thanks Bryn!)

A villainous driver deliberately rams into a deer, but this is one roadkill that won’t go down without a fight. An intense interpretation of the violence in a car crash by The Animation Workshop.

An exploration of the word “bout” by the talented Malcolm Sutherland. Alternately funny and creepy and will have you hypnotized from start to finish. We’ll have to watch this again when we’re drunk.

(NSFW: Language) For the first 30 seconds of this clip, we thought we were losing our hearing, or our minds. But you’ll soon realize this short is made up almost entirely of gibberish. Or is it just Simlish?
