Awesome Shang-chi

We really enjoyed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Except for the typical MCU CGI battle scene at the end, it offered a fresh approach to the superhero genre by making a fun martial arts movie instead. Screen Junkies enjoyed it too, but still took an opportunity to roast some of its more clichéd moments.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings introduces the first new hero to Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But Shang-Chi has appeared in comic books since 1973. Alamo Drafthouse offers a retrospective on the character to give us a bit of background on the martial arts master before heading to the theater.

While the MCU Phase 4 is underway on Disney+, it’s yet to start on the big screen. Marvel kicks things off with a bang with the debut of Shang-Chi, a young man capable of possessing mystical powers who wants to escape his past, but just can’t get away from his legacy. Drops 9.3.2021.
