Awesome Sandbox

Solo developer Dan Govier is promising both scale and detail in this ambitious sandbox game. He claims that he’s designing the spaceships as if they were real-world naval vessels, including having full wiring and plumbing. To top it off, the game is set in a 1:1 scale adaptation of the Milky Way, filled with other systems and life forms. A demo is out now on Steam.

This top-down action game puts you in the shoes of an android bounty hunter who must brawl, shoot, and drive their way through a dystopian future. Players will face off against endless hordes or gangs and corporate baddies as they tear through the neon-lit city. Coming to Steam Early Access 8.11.2021.

Developed by House House, and published by Panic, this silly sandbox game drops you into the role of a mischievous goose who sneaks around a neighborhood, stealing objects and pranking people in order to wreak havoc on their otherwise dull lives. Out now on Nintendo Switch and PC.

We’ve waited far too long for the latest sequel to our favorite open-world sandbox shooter, but it looks like it’ll be worth the wait, as we’ll not only get to toss cars, but don mech suits, and destroy everything in sight. Coming to Xbox One, Xbox One X, and Windows PC on 11/7/17.

While it’s still in Steam Early Access Alpha, this physics-based space simulator is still incredibly impressive, with the ability to create your own planets and universes, then play god with gravity, climate, and even collisions to wreak havoc on your worlds.

Kevin Cancienne is working on a procedurally-generated sandbox game where you play a dog lost in a city. It will also have a multiplayer dog park mode. We’re not entirely convinced that he can deliver such an ambitious project by Fall 2016, but the concept is compelling.
