Awesome Ridley Scott

After tons of hype, Gladiator 2 drops today. Ridley Scott’s action-packed sequel to his 2000 Best Picture winner stars Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington and CGI rhinos and baboons. Though it seems unrealistic, history books confirm that wild African beasts did, in fact, thrill Colosseum crowds — and, hopefully, popcorn-munching moviegoers.

(PG-13: Gore/Language) This AI-generated fan film by Mean Orange Cat pays tribute to Ridley Scott’s 1979 sci-fi classic, Alien. Like the original, a spaceship’s crew investigates a mysterious signal, exposing them to a horrific and deadly species. They did a great job capturing the film’s spirit while adding a fun new spin with the animals. (Thanks, Rob!)

Ridley Scott’s Napoleon movie looks pretty epic. But we think it could be even better if they swapped out Joaquin Phoenix’s Napoleon with the version from Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. YouTuber Dogfoody brings that idea to life with this special Ziggy Piggy edition of the trailer. At least this Napoleon has a French accent.

Wes Anderson remaking Ridley Scott’s Alien seems highly unlikely, but the way Hollywood reboots things these days, you can never say never.
